As Scientists we will be researching what it takes to have a productive allotment where we can propogate and germinate seeds.  As part of our Design Technology curriculum we will be planning and preparing a healthy lunch in the summer term and hopefully use what we have grown!

 Science - Animals including Humans

We will be continuing to look at the human circulatory system and how this works together with the functions of the heart. The children will be investigating the impact of diet, exercise and lifestyle and the way these can effect their bodies functions.  We will also be discussing how our bodies change and develop into old age.

PE is on Wednesday and Friday

Please remember to have an indoor and an outdoor PE kit in school. We are honing our athletic skills and practising our flexibility in gymnastics.

Reading - Please read daily at home for at least 15 minutes. You can read anything you like; your reading book, a comic or even a Deadly 60 Annual! I will be checking reading diaries at least once week.

Oxford Owls has an ebook facility so that the children can read books online - just follow this weblink: www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/reading-owl/library-page

Mathletics -Two tasks will be set on a Friday, which are due in the following Wednesday. You will have your very own login - this is stuck into the front of their reading record. When you have completed your set task, explore all the other exciting activities their are on there! Please spend at least 30 minutes a week on Mathletics. Any children who haven't got access to the internet can attend homework club on a Tuesday (3.05-4.00).
Learning Logs - Learning Logs will be sent out every three weeks with a task to answer/explore/research. When sent out,  you will have two weeks to complete the task -  a date will be typed on to the task to clarify. The current task is to research a Pharaoh of your choice and create an information leaflet about them.

We are learning to spell a range of words from the list for Year 5 and 6, these will be glued in to your child's reading diary every week.  These words will be known root words with an addition of suffixes and pre-fixes, which change the word class that the word belongs to and the meaning.  We are asking children to look at synonyms and antonyms too.

 Wk 5 27th March 2017

We will be looking at words containing silent letters.

E.g: knock, knitting, sign, gnome, writing, wrong, honest, when, climb, doubt, calm, talk etc.

We focus on a word each week and explore the word class that it belongs to, together with the meaning, synonyms, antonyms and any related words.
